Candelaria is located directly on the east coast of Tenerife. The Plaza de la Patrona, the basilica and the long sea promenade are among the most famous areas of the municipality.
The municipal area extends from the Atlantic coast to the higher slopes of the interior of the island. Pleasant temperatures and many hours of sunshine offer good conditions for excursions and outdoor activities.
Candelaria is the most important pilgrimage site in the Canary Islands. The Basilica of the Virgen de Candelaria and the Menceyes statues recall the religious and pre-Hispanic history of the islands.
