The climate in the south

Tenerife is known for having one of the most pleasant climates in the world. On the south coast, mild to warm temperatures all year round and many hours of sunshine ensure particularly pleasant weather, even during the European winter months.

Sun & dry climate

The mountains keep much of the moist trade wind clouds away from the south coast. Around Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos it is particularly sunny and significantly drier than in the north.

El Médano & High altitudes

Around El Médano the northeast trade wind is felt more strongly and creates the familiar wind conditions. Towards Vilaflor and Teide the temperatures drop significantly as the altitude increases.
