The Policía Local of Arico is the community's municipal police force and is therefore responsible for many everyday situations on site. Traffic problems, illegal parking, municipal regulations and public order are typical.
The Policía Local regulates local traffic, records traffic accidents and monitors parking and stopping bans. Its municipal functions extend from the main town to coastal towns such as Porís de Abona and Abades.
The Policía Nacional is responsible for, among other things, identity cards, passports and many foreign matters. The Guardia Civil is particularly recognizable for its tasks on highways, at borders and coasts as well as in ports and airports. The Policía Local, on the other hand, is the right police for local traffic, municipal rules and many order problems within the community.
